But Joseph said to them, "Don't be afraid. Am I in the place of God? You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives. So then, don't be afraid. I will provide for you and your children." And he reassured them and spoke kindly to them. Genesis 50: 19-21
What I got from Jesus today is: Are You in The Place of God?
Today Jesus gave me a very important message, a message I have never thought of! It is because whenever I read this chapter I was attracted by verses 20 to 21 thinking that it's OK to face persecutions. God will turn curses into blessings.
But, today is different. Jesus challenges all of us one question: How often do we take the place of God to judge someone? That was what Joseph brothers were thinking and afraid of. They were afraid that Joseph would kill them after Jacob died. But because of Joseph intimate personal relationship with God he knew that God had turned all the cursed into blessings already and he knew God's intention.
Do you know when will you passed the same test as Joseph passed today in this chapter? When you are being persecuted by some people and you still can go to them and say hello and be willing to shake hands with them. If they do not look at you, say some bad words to you, treat you as "transparent" or walk away, or even treat you badly, that is their problem but you have done your part like what Joseph did.
Please, don't judge other people, you are not God and do not put yourself in the place of God!
Dear Lord Jesus,
Help us to aware not to be in the place of God judging other people. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
