Bible Study
From this chapter to chapter 15, Mark begins to describe the events of Christ's life during the final week before his death on the cross, followed by the account of his resurrection in chapter 16.
The crowd believed that the Messiah would be a social activist and political leader who would restore Israel back to King David's glory. They failed to understand Jesus coming into the world is to bring spiritual salvation and to establish his kingdom in people's hearts. When Jesus fell short of their misguided expectations, the crowd later shouted, "Crucify him!" because he was not the Messiah they wanted.
Do you have wrong expectation for Jesus?
Do you want Him to give you what you want as a mighty king and would you join in the shouts to crucify Him and His servants when you do not get what you expected?
Have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage of scripture we have just read. Offer this time up to God as you listen to him, while listening to "Gabriel's Oboe"

What I heard from Jesus today is: Hail Him as your King or kill Him as your friend?
This is the passage reminding us what really happened on Jesus last five days before He was crucified. A big contrast in just five days! First, everyone shouted and hailed Him as king and then five days later shouted to crucify Him! It seems impossible and unreal but it is so real and painful!
Lots of time this is our relationship to Jesus or to His servants. One day we can do anything for Him, anything to our pastor and in a short time we want to do nothing to Jesus and to those He sends to minister to us. This is such an irony!
How can we do that? Well, one word - EXPECTATION!
We have wrong expectation. You have wrong expectation that's why you have been so good to your pastor, to your leader(s) and then your turn your face away never want to see them again.
You might be so eager to have daily devotion and for church ministries but suddenly you are not interested at all to all of that and you have your own reasons. But, what you don't know is that you have wrong expectation!
Today Jesus warned and challenge you, "Are you going to kill me just like they kill me? Are you going to kill my servant just like they killed my servants?"
Jesus is King of all kings and Lord of all lords. You better follow Him as King and not kill Him as your friend!
Dear Lord Jesus,
Help us to hail you as our King and not kill you as our friend. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
