Bible Study

Jesus told a painful love story of how God loves His people but instead of loving Him back, His people killed all His servants including His own son! N. T. Wright points out the "Jesus was re-using a well-known story from the prophet Isaiah in his fifth chapter about God planting Israel like a vineyard, watching over it, hoping for good grapes, and finally discovering wild grapes. israel had gone to the bad, despite all his care. All that is left is judgment; the vineyard will be broken down, ad wild animals will come and take over. It's a terrifying picture of what happens if the people of God persistently reject the purpose for which God has called them."

We are just tenants, but we take control of God's vineyard, killing God's servants and even God's son!

Is this your story? Who else this story is relating to?

Have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage of scripture we have just read. Offer this time up to God as you listen to him, while listening to "Gabriel's Oboe"

Spiritual Journal

What I heard from Jesus today is: Don't kill Jesus!

This is what I got from Jesus: Don't kill Jesus!

How can we kill Jesus? You may think how dare I can say that?
Well, in taking control of what we want and everything in our own ways we have been killing quite a number of God's servants if we dare to admit. Killing may mean rejecting, opposing, accusing, disconnecting ... then killing! By killing God's servants, we kill Jesus because Jesus can not be our Lord and we take control to be the lord lording many others!

Is that your story? Is that the story of those who are lording you?
What do you need to do today?

Dear Lord Jesus,
Help us to know whether we are those tenants so that we can repent and give back the vineyard to you. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
