Bible Study

Today's passage gives us a correct attitude to read the Bible. To quite a number of Christians, reading the Bible is a way of study and we want to learn more. But, it's beyond learning.

N.T. Wright says:

We too are invited to listen to the exposition of the Bible, to have our hearts burning within us as fresh truth comes out of the old pages and sets us on fire. In this and the following passage Luke emphasizes what the church all too easily forgets: that the careful study of the Bible is meant to bring together head and heart, understanding and excited application...

The road to Emmaus is just the beginning. Hearing Jesus' voice in scripture, knowing him in the breaking of bread, is the way. Welcome to God's new world.

So, are you already in God's new world?

Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage of scripture we have just read. Offer this time up to Jesus as you listen to him, while listening to "Gabriel's Oboe"

What I heard from Jesus today is: Daily devotion on fire.

I had a wonderful chatting with Jesus just a few minutes ago. I wrote down today's topic as "On fire daily with Jesus". Then Jesus said to me, "Son, you have been using Daily devotion on fire for almost four years. You have gotten the title today long time ago. Don't change it, it's a good title."

That's what I mean on fire everyday. Yes, for the past almost four years since July 2009, I have been writing and recording my blogs and podcast. And, almost everyday I am on fire. How can we not on fire when we are with Jesus?I can't! How about you?

That's how the couple Cleopas and Mary was on fire when Jesus was there opening their eyes to see the power of the Bible. That's how you will be on fire if you invite Jesus to come to you to open your eyes just as Jesus opened Cleopas and Mary's eyes.
