Bible Study

Today's passage is a difficult one. Paul goes back to Adam and then jumped to Moses. Do you know how many years of a big gap it is from Adam to Moses? It is about 2,500 years. 2,500 years without the law of God and human beings were still sinning. After the Israelites received the law, human beings are still sinning until now.

Bishop N.T. Wright's says (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/N._T._Wright):

The Point of the covenant with Abraham...was to undo the primal sin of humankind, the basic idolatry which led to the dissolution and decay of genuine humanness, resulting in death itself...
Adam was given a direct command, and broke it; God gave Israel a set of direct commands through Moses, and they broke them.  But in between the two, in this broad-brush account of early history, human beings went on sinning, and dying, even though there was no law to keep track of what they did.

N.T. Wright. Paul for Everyone: Romans:Part12. Louisville,KY:Westminster John Knox Press, 2004, p.82.

One man, Adam sinned, and we all have been following to suffer the result of sin and that is death. One man, Jesus died for our sins, if we follow Jesus into the reality of salvation and that is life, eternal life. Started not when you are dead, but when you believe in Jesus through faith and you live. Are you living well?

Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage of scripture we have just read. Offer this time up to Jesus as you listen to him, while listening to "Gabriel's Oboe"

What I heard from Jesus today is: We make a mess, God gives His best

What I got today from Jesus is to have a thankful heart. Thanking Him that even the whole human race makes a mess, He came to die for us, saves us and that in Him we are a new being. It's like Victor Hugo's Le Miserables. If you have read that or watched the movie then you'll know what I am talking about. Love and grace prevails!

If you have someone who want to harm you making a mess, would you forgive him/her and even sacrifice your life for him/her? That's how much Jesus loves you!

We make a mess, God gives His best. His best is His son, our Lord Jesus Christ!

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you for your total love that we are being saved by the blood of your Son our Lord Jesus Christ. Lead us to follow Jesus' example to forgive, to love and to sacrifice.  In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
