Today's passage Paul wants to tell us how to be truly alive. We are dead when we are in the dominion of death, in the territory of Satan. We are alive when we are in God's Kingdom, having Jesus as our Lord. How can we know we are truly alive? Well, when we are living out a holy living.

Bishop N.T. Wright's says (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/N._T._Wright):
One of the reasons sin will not rule over you - one of the reasons the old landlord has no authority over you - is that when you left his territory you also left behind the place where the law rules.  Thank back to 5:20-21.  There are two spheres, two places to live, the Adam-humanity and the Messiah-humanity.

N.T. Wright. Paul for Everyone: Romans:Part12. Louisville,KY:Westminster John Knox Press, 2004, p.98,102.

So, if you are still in the old territory being you old self then you might be truly dead. If you have repent, enjoying a holy living each day, then you are truly alive.

Is it difficult to be truly alive?

Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage of scripture we have just read. Offer this time up to Jesus as you listen to him, while listening to "Gabriel's Oboe"

What I heard from Jesus today is: Truly alive?

What I got from Jesus today is a self-examination of whether we are truly alive. It is so easy for a Christian to think that he is truly alive. But, without a holy living there is no hope to truly alive.

When we praise the Lord and bless His holy name, how holy is our names? How holy is our living? When people think of our names, seeing our names, how would they see us? A holy guy, a godly woman or a filthy lier?

Dear Lord Jesus,
Lead us to live each day to enjoy a holy living and that we won't offer our parts of our body to sin. We so want to be truly alive. Help us Lord. We praise you and we bless your holy name. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
