Bible Study

     After John talks about how we can be blinded by the darkness not going into the light, he tells us a very important message today. It is about why we as human beings live our lives each day following our lust, all kinds of desire and our pride. It is about how we love the world than His Kingdom. It is all about Satan, the Lier, the Deceiver and the coming anti-Christ.  

Let's take a look at what Bishop N.T. Wright says (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/N._T._Wright ) :

    The true follower of Jesus the Messiah has been 'anointed' by his Holy Spirit (verse 20), so that a real change of heart and character has happened.  One of the key symptoms of that change is precisely the recognition that Jesus is indeed the Messiah.  He truly is the son of God.
    The "Antimessianic' movements are bound to deny this.  If they don't, they have no reason to set up a new movement in the first place!  And this is what ties them in to the idea of 'people of the lie'. The greatest lie of all is 'to deny the father and the son' (verse 22)…
     These people are deceiving you (verse 26).  And, actually, you know this deep down, because that 'anointing' remains within you, so that without anyone teaching you from the outside, as it were you know the truth deep within.

      So, do you have that anointing in you, the fresh anointing of the Holy Spirit each day that you can discern those lies?

    The title I heard from Jesus today is: The anointing in you expels all lies

    The message I got from Jesus today is perhaps another life or death warning. We as human beings are so easy to believe all kinds of lies and we seems do not have a way to discern what is the truth and what is a lie. Who are God's servants and who are not. Until we are being deceived, cheated and our faith collapsed! How sad!

     But, John tells us today that there is a way. The anointing in you is the way for you to discern those lies. What is the anointing? It is the filling of the Holy Spirit, the fresh anointing that you have the gift of the Holy Spirit to do God's Kingdom work. If you have that anointing then your life should have a visible change, your being and your doing, your thinking and your saying. Just as Bishop Wright says above, "a real change of heart and character has happened."

     Do you have that anointing? Do you love Jesus more than the world? Are you following Jesus each day so that you are walking in the Light?  

Come, Holy Spirit, come!
Pour down on us your fresh anointing that we can discern those lies. Fill us each day that we can witness to the world that we are disciples of Christ.  In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
