Bible Study

     This passage starts with the importance of having faith to overcome the temptation and attack of the world. That those Christians from Early Church time could have the faith and love to bear witness for Jesus even under severe persecution to the point of martyrdom. How can Christians have this kind of courageous life?  

Let's take a look at what Bishop N.T. Wright says (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/N._T._Wright ) :

    His summary in verses 11 and 12 draws the whole thing together so well that it is hard to do other than repeat it.  This is the witness - the witness that God has borne to his son, and that the spirit bears within us: God has given us the life of the age to come, and this life is in his son…Therefore,…anyone who has the son has life. Anyone who does not have the son of God does not have life.

      So, do you have life? Does your life show the reality that you have Jesus?

Spiritual Journal

    The title I heard from Jesus today is: Have Jesus, have life 

    The message I got from Jesus today is a very simple formula. Have Jesus, have life. Not having Jesus, no life. Do you know what does that means?

    John talks about love in the previous four chapters. Here in this chapter he talks about love and faith in our lives. How blessed we are to experience love and faith constantly. And, the reason to experience that kind of abundant life is because we have Jesus.  Because, if we have Jesus, we have life! Wonderful , blessed and abundant life!

    Do you really have Jesus? Can you show the evidence that you have Jesus? What are those evidences? 

Dear Lord Jesus,
Help us to have you each day as our Lord and King so that we can have life.  In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
