Bible Study

John tries to give those churches some hints that suffering is coming. There is no way to escape those sufferings but the only way to face those sufferings is their faith and their courage, with Jesus being there because He is the beginning and the end.

Let's take a look at what Bishop N.T. Wright says (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/N._T._Wright ) :
And the Jesus in question has, as his credentials, the fact that he 'was dead', and is 'alive for ever' (verse 18).  Like someone whispering to us that they know the secret way out of the dungeon where we have been imprisoned, he says, 'I've got the keys!  The keys of death and Hades - I have them right here! There's nothing more you need worry about.'
To grasp all this requires faith. To live by it will take courage.  But it is that faith, and that courage, which this book is written to evoke.

N.T. Wright. Revelation for Everyone. Louisville,KY: Westminster John Knox Press, 2011, p.9.

Do you have that kind of faith and courage to live your life each day to face all kinds of suffering and challenge?

Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage we have just read. Offer this time up to Jesus as you listen to him, while listening to "Gabriel's Oboe":  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jmax47l2hLU

Spiritual Journal

The title I heard from Jesus today is: How can you face the unknown and fearful future?

What I got from Jesus today is a situation that many people make a mess. Why? Because quite a number of people take that question to a fortune teller trying to solve some future problems they can't solve. What they do not know is that they might have a high possibility to be controlled by evil spirits and fall into darkness.

Jesus points it out to me now that the clue is in yesterday and today's passage. Jesus is "the First and the Last", God is "who is, and who was, and who is to come" repeats four times. This is the answer!

We can not face that unknown and fearful future, especially if you are facing a major crisis. Jesus is the only One who can help you to face the unknown and fearful future.

Do you think you have Jesus with you always? Well, let me tell you. You will never know until that day comes when you are in a painful suffering and a situation that you can't control. Then, you will know if you have Jesus with you. If Jesus is there, then you can get through and experience God in a wonderful way. If Jesus is not there, then you will certainly be in a big mess!

Dear Lord Jesus,
Lead us each day that we can face our unknown and fearful future.  In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
