OT DAY 178 - How Bright Is Your Face Recently? (Please click here for English podcast)

Silence

1.   Put on your “brakes” and stop for a moment of silence
2.   Wait for God. Breathe deep for God's peace. Exhale your worries.

Praise and Thanksgiving

1.   Think through your day, all the times that made you smile
2.   Thank God for all those moments, and for all those people
3.   Open your heart to praise the Lord

       Clap your hands, all peoples!
Shout to God with loud songs of joy!
For the Lord, the Most High, is to be feared,
a great king over all the earth.
                                                         Psalm 47:1-2

Confession and repentance

1.  Pray for the Holy Spirit to work in you:

“Dear Holy Spirit, shine your light into the places of darkness in my life. Show me my sins, everything that blocks me from encountering God. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.”

2.  Through the Holy Spirit, examine yourself for a short silence and then pray:

"Dear Lord Jesus, thank you for dying on the cross for our sins and being victorious over death and sin. I confess my sin to you(pause, to tell Jesus what the Holy Spirit has shown you). Forgive my sins by your blood and help me follow you. Holy Spirit, fill me that I may be able to receive your gift to love God and His people. In Jesus Name I pray, Amen."

The Word (Exodus 34:27-35)

English(ESV): https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Exodus 34&version=ESV

29 When Moses came down from Mount Sinai, with the two tablets of the testimony in his hand as he came down from the mountain, Moses did not know that the skin of his face shone because he had been talking with God.
                                                   Exodus 34:29

Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage of scripture we have just read. Offer this time up to Jesus as you listen to him, while listening to "Gabriel's Oboe"

My Listening
I am so sorry that I have stopped my blog/podcast for three days because I got a quite severe flu. Four days ago when I started to feel sick I asked you to meditate on Exodus 34:27-35. What have you got from that passage?

The message I received from Jesus today is that how the light of Christ can shine in our faces similar to what Moses experienced. Do you believe that?

I have been sick for three days that I could look terrible, but I think the light of Christ is still in my face. You know what I mean if you know the difference of a Christian with the light of Christ or without the light of Christ.

I still remember very vividly the first time I saw Rev. Dr. John Stott in 1991. I was waiting for him with two priests in the Hong Kong Airport. We were very excited to have a chance to meet with this world class Christian leader. All three of us were holding in our hand a photo of Uncle John. It's been an hour we had been waiting and suddenly I said, "There, John Stott." They said, "What? It's more than 100 meters away and there are lots of people. Where is John Stott?" I said, "See. He is surrounded by bright light. See that?" Yes, praise the Lord that I can be able to discern that kind of light of Christ in John Stott and other servants of God.

It is just like the recent trailer for Star Wars Episode VII:   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wCc2v7izk8w
"The force is strong in my family. My father has it.  I have it. My sister has it. You have that power too!"

No matter you are Star Wars fans, or you are totally against everything about Star Wars, it doesn't matter.

What matter the most is that:
Do you know you have the light of Christ shining in your face?

May I share with you two photos. The first one is from 1991. The second one is the last time I visited Uncle John in his Senior Home south of London in July 2009.

So, how bright is your face today that people can see the peace and joy in your face giving people hope and security?

Dear Lord Jesus,
Lead us to be as close as we can with you each day that our faces shine with your light giving people hope and security. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.

Praise and Thanksgiving
Let's give thanks for God with us. Let us praise Him:
