Bible Study

Today's passage is a very special scene that most people miss when they read this.  Because most people focus on finding out the meaning of the Lord's prayer, the classic model of prayer. But, this is an ABA sandwich form:
A   The disciples saw wonderful scene happened when Jesus was praying so they asked Jesus to teach them how to pray so that they could experienced the same anointing.

B   Jesus taught them the content of real prayer is that they needed to connected to the loving Heavenly Father and submitted to Him so that the things happening in heaven could happen on earth. Then they needed just to pray for their daily "bread", the most basic need and that they would not disconnect with other people because of not being able to forgive those who wrong them.

A   Jesus said the Heavenly Father would surely give them what they wanted and named that as "the Holy Spirit", the best they could ask for.

So, in a simple way to comprehend this complex situation is that when Jesus prayed, the Holy Spirit was there and Jesus' disciples felt it but they could not name that. Jesus taught them the essence of prayer and if they pray like that they will be connected to the Heavenly Father and those things happen in heaven will happen on earth. And that is the Holy Spirit will come to be with them.

What do you want when you pray? Do you know that the best for you to pray for is to be filled by the Holy Spirit?

Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage of scripture we have just read. Offer this time up to Jesus as you listen to him, while listening to "Gabriel's Oboe"

Spiritual Journal

What I heard from Jesus today is: The best for you to pray for!

What I received from Jesus today is a new meaning to his very familiar passage. Actually it's not very much about the Lord's prayer but about how the disciples could receive what Jesus received when He was praying.

That's why sometimes when someone pray we suddenly feel a very intense outpouring of the Holy Spirit anointing us. That was what it was happening at that time.

So, if you know how to focus your prayer like what Jesus did enjoying an intimate personal relationship with the Heavenly Father, you will be richly anointed by the Holy Spirit.

When I was typing the last paragraph, I felt called to kneel down on the floor of my hotel room in Chicago Airport and prayed. It was a very wonderful filling of the Holy Spirit when I prayed. For what's happening of why I was stuck in Chicago Airport with Archbishop Yong, Julia, Peter Klenner and Jenny please go to my Devotion on Fire 2 blog: http://bishopsilas2.blogspot.ca/

Yes, just as what I wrote in my Devotion on Fire 2 blog an hour ago. When we are connected to God, signs and wonder will accompany us confirming of Jesus presence and the anointing of the Holy Spirit.

Dear Holy Spirit,
Thank you for this surprised by joy experience. Lead us into the right direction to pray following Jesus' model that we will be filled and anointed by you each day. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
