Many Christians say Jesus did not mention about tithing and neither does any author in the New Testament mentioned about tithing. So, tithing is being done in Old Testament time and there is no biblical foundation to support we need to tithe.
That is wrong. Here in this passage Jesus clearly says that we need to tithe but tithing and other ways of offerings is not the most important thing. The most important thing is to love God and live a life worthy to be in God's standard.
The six woes of the Pharisees is because they did those things outwardly for other people to see but inwardly they were very corrupted and rotten.
What have you got from Jesus today? Are you more like a Pharisee as Jesus described or a true disciple of Christ?
Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage of scripture we have just read. Offer this time up to Jesus as you listen to him, while listening to "Gabriel's Oboe"

What I heard from Jesus today is: Jesus tells you to tithe and more!
What I received from Jesus today is a call for us not to follow the footsteps of those Pharisees but to really follow Jesus. It's better to start with tithing! Because if you have not start to tithe than you just listen but not obey. I am a leader leads by examples. When I teach our people to tithe my wife and I offer more than tithing. When I teach our people to fast for 40 days starting January 1 this year, I started a 40 days fasting from Oct. 25 to Dec. 3. I did it doubled. Not that I am a Pharisee boasting on my righteousness but just to encourage more brothers and sisters to fast telling them that this is good in God's sight!
So, if you have not start tithing, you need to start now! If you have been tithing may be this is the time that Jesus challenge you to offer more as those people in his age offered more than tithing and they did not have a problem. The most important thing is that it is not how much money you offer to God but are you willing to offer everything to the Lord that His Kingdom will be extended because of your Kingdom heart!
Dear Lord Jesus,
Lead us to be able to offer more than tithing knowing that you love us to do so in order to honor your name and to extend your mighty Kingdom. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
