This passage gives us the best picture what Jesus and the angels in heaven rejoice and celebrate most: True repentance.
What is true repentance according to what Jesus says: When people follow Him and His way!
Let's hear what N.T. Wright says:
Through out this chapter Jesus is not saying that those sinners were simply to be accepted as they stand. Sinners must repent. The lost sheep and lot coin are found. The prodigal son comes to his senses and returns home. But Jesus has a different idea to his critics of what 'repentance' means. For them, nothing short of adopting their standards of purity and law-observance would do. For Jesus, when people follow him and his way, that is the true repentance...
This is why there's a party going on: all heaven is having a party, the angels are joining in, and if we don't have one as well we'll be out of tune with God's reality...Jesus was declaring that heaven was having a great, noisy party every time a single sinner saw the light and began to follow God's way. If earth-dwellers wanted to copy the life of heaven, they'd have a party, too. That's what Jesus was doing.
How long ago did you lead someone to repent, follow Jesus and His way?One year, five year or never? Do you know what Jesus want you to do the most?
Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage of scripture we have just read. Offer this time up to Jesus as you listen to him, while listening to "Gabriel's Oboe"

What I heard from Jesus today is: Help your church not to be a club please!
What I received from Jesus today is a plead to all of us. Lots of Christians have never lead any one to Jesus. For those Christians who led some people to receive Jesus and being baptized, most of those new converts do not follow Jesus and His way.
We say that church culture is collapsing now, but what we do not know is even when church culture was blooming many years ago it was just club culture! Lots of Christians are club members without the urge to be "evengelists" to lead people to Jesus. There are so few Christians who are willing to be disciplers to teach people how to follow Jesus and His way. That's the real reason of the collapse of church culture!
Emmanuel 330 is going to have our 3rd Alpha in three weeks time since this new church plant was being established in March 2011 in a Chinese Seafood Restaurant. We rejoiced in witnessing that we baptized seven adults and one child not more than two years. We ask for your prayers that we can attract more non-believers to come to this new Alpha which will be started in March 6, every Wednesday 3:30p.m. to 5p.m. And I am sure we will have another joyful celebration when some more people will be led to follow Jesus and His way in a few months time.
Help your church not to be a club please!
Dear Lord Jesus,
Lead us to be good evangelists, disciplers and mentors that more and more people will be led to you and to be able to follow you and your way. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
