Today's passage gives us to see the fruit of the willingness of being sent out by Jesus to proclaim the Good News.
The seventy returned with joy telling Jesus that even the demons submitted to them in Jesus name. The most powerful and assuring saying that a servant of God can receive happens here:
"I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you. However, do not rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven."
Wow! Can you believe how would those seventy felt when they exercised the power and authority given by Jesus and heard what Jesus said? How can we experience the same power and authority now? Very simple! Following the key and secret Jesus prayed after his comment:
"I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children. Yes, Father, for this was your good pleasure. All things have been committed to me by my Father. No one knows who the Son is except the Father, and no one knows who the Father is except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him."
Who are those little children? Those seventy! Why? Because they were willing to follow what Jesus told them to do. Just listen and obey, then they returned with joy knowing that they had defeated Satan!
So, are you still struggling because you still cling on your own wisdom and knowledge? Are you willing to just come to Jesus like a son comes to his father and do what his father tell him? If you can do that, then I assure you that you will experience what those seventy experienced!

Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage of scripture we have just read. Offer this time up to Jesus as you listen to him, while listening to "Gabriel's Oboe"

What I heard from Jesus today is: We experienced what the seventy experienced today!
You can never imagine what a group of us experienced yesterday morning. It was very similar to the joyful and powerful experience of those seventy.
Yesterday morning we had a normal home visit to a senior couple in a senior home. Mr. and Mrs. Wong are parents of our parishioner Joyce Wong. The 30 minutes home visit turns out to be a 1 1/2 hour Evangelistic meeting. Mr. Wong painful shared how he hurt himself physically because of his bad relationship with his wife for more than sixty years. And Joyce shared how painful she had been since she was a child seeing her parents fought each other. Many years ago she wanted to become a Buddhist having only vegetables for a period of time hoping that her devotion to the Buddha would give peace to her home. Later she knew that it was only a false hope and she received Jesus a few years ago and baptized by me two years ago. Then everything changed!
I can't summarize what happened afterwards but it is a real miracle. Joyce said two days ago her mom said salvation has come to their home. I invited them to receive Jesus and invited them to receive baptism on Feb. 10, a week from today. I thought her mom was ready but her dad might need some more time. You know what he said, "Chinese always says wife follows her husband, but today you guys have solved my puzzle on the meaning of life and I want to follow my wife decision to receive baptism next Sunday." You know, in that 1 1/2 hour everyone of us shed a lot tears because it was so moving! It's like heaven! We rejoiced that their names are written in heaven now!
So, I led them to pray and receive Jesus and they are going to be baptize by me next Sunday. If you want to listen to Joyce' testimony, you have two opportunities. Joyce will come to REC's weekly 9a.m. prayer meeting to share what happened today and we will pray for her, her parents and her family members, quite a number of them are not Christian yet. Then Joyce will share again next Sunday before her parents baptism. Please try all you best to come and listen to the powerful experience just like what the seventy experienced!
So, please take a look at the picture we took after the couple prayed and received Jesus. See the joy in each one of us! Wow! Praise the Lord!
Do you think this is a coincidence that we have this experience and we are in this passage? Jesus has something to tell you hoping that you will become one of the seventy. Are you ready and willing?
My 10:02a.m. prayer was granted right away yesterday with just one day of prayer. We had Sandy Wong and May Leung to join our visitation group the first time yesterday. They are willing to be one of the seventy and they experienced the great power of God's presence yesterday! How blessed they are!

Dear Lord Jesus,
Lead us to be willing to follow the good example of the seventy to experience your power and authority that we can live joyfully each day. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
