Bible Study

      Today's passage tells us how Paul, Silas, Timothy and Luke stepped into a new territory they had never been before. From Asia into Europe, from a familiar area into a territory controlled by the dark force. 

Bishop N.T. Wright's says (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/N._T._Wright):
     This is certainly what was going on in Philippi.  Paul, Silas, Timothy and Luke had walked into territory where all kinds of forces, all sorts of powers, were at work, and three of them in particular come rushing together in this story.

     We can see how they evangelized Lydia and got their base, like a mission centre. But then they were drawn to a slave girl who had a spirit and the incident made them to be beaten and got into jail. They were being put into the inner cell and their feet were fastened in the stocks.
     How do you relate those sufferings as an open attack from the dark force in that area? How would you feel if you were them being tortured in the jail? 
     
                                    
Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage of scripture we have just read. Offer this time up to Jesus as you listen to him, while listening to "Gabriel's Oboe"



Spiritual Journal

     What I heard from Jesus today is: How to get away from the dark force?

    What I got today from Jesus is not what I normally received. Jesus led me to ponder on these two verses(verses 12-13):
    And we stayed there several days.  On the Sabbath we went outside the city gate to the river, where we expected to find a place of prayer. 


    The best way to get away the dark force in a city is prayer walk. I think they were prayer walking for a few days and on Sabbath Day they went outside the city to continue their prayer walk as well as to find a place to worship because there was no synagogue.
    I think there are less than 1% of Christians understand the importance of prayer walking and only 0.1% of Christians really prayer walk. 

    Praise the Lord to call me and others to start a three minutes prayer by kneeling down and then today the message of prayer walk. I need to start prayer walking again and need to think what is the plan the Lord has prepared for us to prayer walk our city - Richmond. 
  
Dear Lord Jesus,
Lead us to be able to get away from the dark force by prayer walking. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
