Bible Study

Today's passage is a little bit strange. Can you imagine Paul did not want to leave the jail but requested for public apology because he was a Roman citizen. Why?

Bishop N.T. Wright's says (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/N._T._Wright):
God had given Paul the extraordinary position of being a highly trained Pharisee and a Roman citizen, and had called him to do a job.  Paul took it for granted that the tools God had given him were tools he should use.

N.T. Wright. Acts for Everyone, Part 2. Louisville,KY:Westminster John Knox Press, 2008, p.73.

What kind of special tools have God given to you? How can you use those tools following Paul's example to build up the body of Jesus, your local church and other Kingdom ministry?

Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage of scripture we have just read. Offer this time up to Jesus as you listen to him, while listening to "Gabriel's Oboe"

Spiritual Journal

What I heard from Jesus today is: How do you use your tools?

What I got today from Jesus is a reminder that each one of us should have quite a number of tools given by God. In most cases, we do not know what kind of tools we have. Even we know, we do not have the courage and willingness to use your tools.
    Your tools can be:
1.  Financial resources.
2.  Special trained skills, like what Paul had.
3.  Your circle of relatives, friends and colleagues.
4.  Newly acquired spiritual gifts or knowledge.
5.  Some special lifestyles and hobbies.

The message today is very inspiring. You really need to ask the Holy Spirit to reveal to you your tools and then to ask for the courage and willingness to use those special tools to build up His Kingdom.

Dear Holy Spirit,
Reveal to us our tools and give us the courage and willingness to use those tools like what Paul did to extend your Kingdom. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
