Today's passage gives us a very strange situation. It seems a coincidence that the son of Paul's sister heard of the plot and then step by step the plot did not work. Was that really a coincidence?

Bishop N.T. Wright's says (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/N._T._Wright):

Is there a lesson to be learned from this splendid little story, straight out of an old-fashioned Boys' Own Magazine, with the youngster suddenly becoming the hero and holding the key to the plot?  If there is, it can only be a message about God's strange providence.

N.T. Wright. Acts for Everyone, Part 2. Louisville,KY:Westminster John Knox Press, 2008, p.173-174.

When you are in danger as how Paul experienced in today's passage, do you believe God is the Provider and He will provide what you need?

Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage of scripture we have just read. Offer this time up to Jesus as you listen to him, while listening to "Gabriel's Oboe"

Spiritual Journal

What I heard from Jesus today is: God's strange providence

What I received from Jesus is an assurance that no matter what, he will provide what we need. If you read today's passage once again slowly and carefully, you will find out there are certain points that is unusual.
1. The seriousness and determination of those forty men to kill Paul and their detail plot.
2. The seemingly coincidence that the son of Paul's sister heard that and he could be able to go in the barrack to tell Paul.
3. The centurion was willing to listen to Paul and lead the young man to see the the tribune.
4. The centurion hold the young man's hand and listened to him
5. The tribune believed in what was happening and prepared to have the "Saving Private Ryan" operation.

Were all those coincidences? No, that's God's strange providence as what N.T. Wright described.

Have you experience this kind of providence before? I have and really hundreds of times. Trust in Him totally and you will experience more of His strange providence.

Dear Lord Jesus,
Lead us to have a total trust and a daily intimate personal relationship with you that we can experience your strange providence more often. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
