Bible Study

Today's passage gives us another uproar in another city like what happened in Lystra that Paul nearly died. It was because of Jason that Paul and Silas could get away from the attack.

So, who was Jason? What did he do that he got a significance place here in this chapter as a model for other Christians?

Bishop N.T. Wright's says (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/N._T._Wright):
Luke introduces a character he seems to think we know, one Jason, whose house the mob attack.  We haven't met him before, actually, and there is no telling whether this Jason is the same one we meet in Romans 16:21, someone who is with Paul when he's writing that great letter.  But he seems both to be a local man and already marked out as a Christian.  Since Paul has been in the city for three sabbaths it is perfectly possible both that Jason was converted early on in that time and that he has already been allowing his house to be used for meetings of believers, and as somewhere for Paul and his companions to stay.
It is Jason and some other local Christians who, this time, bear the brunt of the mob's anger.

N.T. Wright. Acts for Everyone, Part 2. Louisville,KY:Westminster John Knox Press, 2008, p.77.

How important it is in God's eyes is Jason? What did he actually do for the Kingdom? How can you follow Jason's model?

Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage of scripture we have just read. Offer this time up to Jesus as you listen to him, while listening to "Gabriel's Oboe"

What I heard from Jesus today is: Have a house group in your home

What I got today from Jesus is a very simple invitation to you. Be willing to use your home as the venue for a house group. That was what Jason did. Is it difficult? Yes or No.

It is always so difficult to ask Christians to open their home for house group's purpose. We learn a good example in this passage the importance of the willingness to open your home as the venue of a house group. We have quite a number of people in our church who are willing to open their homes for our small groups. We have Tony and Maggie who are willing to open their restaurant every Wednesday 3:30p.m. for our Emmanuel 330. Praise the Lord!

Remember,  you will surely be richly blessed and remembered if you open your home or a place for His Kingdom ministry. Be a Jason! You will be blessed!

Dear Lord Jesus,
Lead us to have the willingness to open our home to be a venue for a house group. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
