Bible Study

Paul talks about how can we have the aroma and the light of Christ in the last chapter. The closer we can be with Jesus each day the better chance we can have that aroma and light of Christ. This passage follows through to tell us that because of our closeness with Jesus each day we become His true servants and He as our Lord. We are in the light and can be able to see the light. But, those unbelievers are not able to do so. Why?

Bishop N.T. Wright says ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/N._T._Wright ) :
Tragically, there are many who remain blinded, 'veiled', by 'the god of this world'.  That is one of Paul's ways of referring to the dark power, the satan, who opposes God's light and truth…
It isn't so much that the gospel comes to people as a strange, alien invasion, forcing them into a mould for which they were not made.  The strange, alien invasion is the one perpetrated by 'the god of this world', who stops people from seeing the healing, life-giving light of the gospel…
This passage, then, is central to Paul's view of his own job description.  The Messiah is the full, true reflection of the one creator God in whose image all humans were made… Let nobody suppose that Paul is that light, or that truth.  He doesn't go around talking about himself.  He talks about Jesus.

N.T. Wright. Paul for Everyone:2 Corinthians. Louisville,KY: Westminster John Knox Press, 2004, p.42.

Are you sometimes blinded by the god of this world and can't see Jesus nor His plan? How much do you talks about Jesus? How is your job description as compare to Paul's in this passage?

Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage of scripture we have just read. Offer this time up to Jesus as you listen to him, while listening to "Gabriel's Oboe":  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jmax47l2hLU

What I heard from Jesus today is: Are you blind? Can you see Jesus?

What I got from Jesus today is a relational question. It is so easy to be blinded by the god of this world. And if such situation happens, then we can't see Jesus because we are blind. Do you have that kind of experiences? I have quite some. Very painful experience not being able to see Jesus and His plan. Why? Because I was blind! How? Too many things can block Jesus from us just like that veil Moses had.

If you are not blind, then you can see Jesus, then Jesus can be your Lord, then Jesus can reveal His plan to you in His time, then you will be strengthened and empowered each day to talk about Jesus and to do Jesus' Kingdom ministry.

Are you blind? Can you see Jesus?

Dear Lord Jesus,
Open our eyes to see you so that we are willing to let you to be our Lord and we as your servants.  In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
