Bible Study

Paul talks about how important the message of the Gospel is inside us as human being, like jars of clay. We are God's messengers, but what is real important is the message, not the messenger.

Bishop N.T. Wright says ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/N._T._Wright ) :
It's like putting treasure into clay pots or earthen-ward jars; they are fragile, breakable, disposable, but the treasure is what matters.  If it were other wise, the jars might regard themselves as important.

If you want to see resurrection at work here and now, in your own life, you have to be prepared to see crucifixion at work as well.  And if the Corinthians want an apostle who is living by the gospel he proclaims - Paul isn't sure that they do want this, but they ought to! - then they must look for these signs.  Don't look, in other words, for a showy, flashy rhetorical presentation which leaves the problems and sufferings of the world to someone else.  Look for someone who is being given over to death for the sake of Jesus, so that Jesus' life may be revealed even in their mortal humanity.

N.T. Wright. Paul for Everyone:2 Corinthians. Louisville,KY: Westminster John Knox Press, 2004, p.42.

Are you willing to be given over to death for the sake of Jesus? Do you know what you need to die, to sacrifice so that God's will be done?

Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage of scripture we have just read. Offer this time up to Jesus as you listen to him, while listening to "Gabriel's Oboe":  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jmax47l2hLU

What I heard from Jesus today is: You are more precious than you know

What I got from Jesus today is an encouragement as well as a calling to all of us.  We are more precious than we know if we can live out the message of the gospel inside us. And, if we are willing to die for Jesus, then we can see resurrection at work here and now.

Today is a good day for our people of Richmond Emmanuel Church to experience this mighty "resurrection" at work. Two days ago we had a couple donated one million Canadian dollars to support our church building project. Their willingness to sacrifice was met with another generous gift of Cad$10,000 from one of my high school classmate, which generated a "wave" of offerings. The most important message is that quite a number of people got a confirmation that the "10,000 Reasons 123 Campaign" is a call from the Lord for us to make our church building project a reality.

Because of those two very special offerings, one is Cad$10,000 and the other is Cad$1,000,000, we have received money or pledges of a total amount of Cad$1,200,000 in just 17 days time. But, we still have a long way to go before we really can enter into God's Promised Land. This is a miraculous encouraging start! This is the vision for "10,000 Reasons 123": 1 person makes an offering of Cad$10,000 and finds two more people to make an offering of Cad$10,000

Could you pray for us daily so that we have more people to "jump" in this campaign making an offering of $10,000? And, if possible, please join us in this glorifying campaign to make a God-size Kingdom ministry happen!

If we are willing to sacrifice our money like that for Jesus, we can see resurrection at work and Jesus name be glorified.

Dear Lord Jesus,
Lead us to be willing to die for you so that your resurrection work can become a reality and your Kingdom be extended. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
