Bible Study

Today is Christmas Eve, what do you expect to hear from Jesus in this blog today? How about a successful reconciliation well done? Yes, that's what Paul felt and did to the Corinthians. Jesus came to save us two thousand years ago so that we can be reconciled with God and come back to His family. Paul did all he could do, to encourage, to discipline and to rebuke, hoping that the Corinthians could repent, reconciled with him and had a true restoration. He did it!

Bishop N.T. Wright says ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/N._T._Wright ) :
Paul's boasting had proved true. That's the feeling Paul has had, now that Titus has come back from Corinth and told him that the Christians there are indeed as eager to get back on good terms with him as he is to do with them.

N.T. Wright. Paul for Everyone:2 Corinthians. Louisville,KY: Westminster John Knox Press, 2004, p.81.

Do you know what that felt like for Paul? What has that feeling to do with you?

Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage of scripture we have just read. Offer this time up to Jesus as you listen to him, while listening to "Gabriel's Oboe":  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jmax47l2hLU

What I heard from Jesus today is: Work harder for Jesus, harvest is not too far away!

What I got from Jesus today is an encouragement tailor-made to us on Christmas Eve to work harder for Jesus just like what Paul did. And, harvest is not too far away!

How are you able to follow Paul's good example to encourage, to discipline and to rebuke so that those who are far away from Jesus can come back home with Jesus working together for His family in unity?

Dear Lord Jesus,
Lead us to be able to follow Paul's example to taste the sweetness of harvest for your Kingdom's sake.  In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
