Bible Study

Paul talks about our being ambassadors for Christ in the last passage. Are ambassadors important dignities? Yes. But, Paul says in today's passage, to be ambassadors of Christ means you have to go through what Jesus had gone through. We are following a crucified Christ, but not a top-position, with power and honour Christ. Do you still want to do that? Do you still want to follow Jesus?

Bishop N.T. Wright says ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/N._T._Wright ) :
Paul is speaking, he says, as though to children (verse 13).  He is inviting them to open their hearts as wide as he has opened his.  They have been grumpy with him, refusing to acknowledge that his style of ministry is the genuine thing…And they have criticized Paul for not being the right sort, not doing the right things.
But now he opens his heart in a long burst of rhetoric.  This is the sort of person I've been, he says…
Vulnerability is the name of the game at this point, if it hasn't been already in Paul's remarkable frank admissions…
This is what it means to follow a crucified Messiah! This is what it means to be an apostle of the world's true Lord!

What do you want to get from Jesus? What are you willing to give to Jesus? Are you willing to give Him all, just like He gave you all?

Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage of scripture we have just read. Offer this time up to Jesus as you listen to him, while listening to "Gabriel's Oboe":  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jmax47l2hLU

Spiritual Journal

What I heard from Jesus today is: Vulnerability is the name of the game

What I got from Jesus today is a reminder of where we should be. Lots of time we forget that we are following a crucified Christ. We choose to be a powerful and victory ambassador. See what kind of ambassador Paul was, that is our model, that is our challenge. Are you willing to take this challenge to be vulnerable just like Paul? If you think you are a faithful servant of Christ, how many things have your experienced according to Paul's suffering list today?

Open your heart to Jesus and to more people just like Paul opened his hearts to the Corinthians! Put down your mask, your bullet-prove vest! Open your heart and be vulnerable!

Dear Lord Jesus,
Help us to be willing to open our hearts so that we can be your ambassador to give, to love and to be vulnerable. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
