Pharaoh was having a confession after the seventh plague. But when everything was over, he and his officials hardened their hearts again. Do you think you would be the same? Yes, you will, unless ...

Let's take a look at what Professor John Goldingay says (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Goldingay) :

God suspects a mismatch between words and heart, and Moses wisely suspects the same mismatch in Pharaoh.  He does not yet "revere" God.  The previous time Exodus used this verb it described the midwives who on this basis took no notice of a previous Pharaoh's instructions
Every time God acts in mercy on Pharaoh it gives him a real chance to change.  Moses knows that Pharaoh does not yet revere God.  Not yet.  It could still happen.

Do you revere God? How does today's passage teaches you how to know that you really revere God?

Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage we have just read. Offer this time up to Jesus as you listen to him, while listening to "Gabriel's Oboe":  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jmax47l2hLU

The title I heard from Jesus today is: Do you revere God?

What I receive from Jesus today is a simple but profound question. What is your answer?
In most translations like ESV, NIV, NRSV use "fear", the Message uses "have no respect for". It is not difficult for us to say that of course we fear God, revere God, respect God. The reality might be just like what Professor Goldingay says, "a mismatch between word and hearts".
I do not know how many times you have tried to change after some kind of crisis and when that is over you have not changed. What I can tell you toady is that your word and heart should match together, if not you would suffer as Pharaoh suffered greatly!

     Do you revere God?

Dear Lord Jesus,
Help us to live out and not just say we revere God. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
