Bible Study

What if the Israelites did not listen to what God commanded and ate normal bread? What is the good thing about eating unleavened bread?

Let's take a look at what Professor John Goldingay says (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Goldingay) :

The whole event of Passover comes to remind people of the exodus.  So you eat it all that night because you are leaving tomorrow, and you even dress in light of that fact.  You eat flat bread because you haven't got time to make proper bread with leaven to make it rise.  You don't take all the time in the world over it.  You must be ready to go.

John Goldingay. Exodus & Leviticus for Everyone. Louisville,KY: Westminster John Knox Press, 2010, p.53.

I don't know whether you understand that we are just sojourners in this world. Our lives are limited, our time is limited and lots of things are limited. Yet, we do not know how to travel "light". Do you think you can travel light so that you are ready to go anywhere God wants you to go?

Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage we have just read. Offer this time up to Jesus as you listen to him, while listening to "Gabriel's Oboe":  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jmax47l2hLU

The title I heard from Jesus today is: You must be ready to go

What I receive from Jesus today is a reminder that we are only sojourners. Yet, most people are traveling "heavy" rather than "light". That will make us unable to go where God wants us to go because we have too much we can't leave behind.

Let's learn to travel light so that we are ready to go to those places and ministries when God calls us.

Dear Lord Jesus,
Help us to know how to travel light and to be willing to travel light so that we can be ready any time you call us to go.  In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
