Silence

1.   Put on your “brakes” and stop for a moment of silence
2.   Wait for God. Breathe deep for God's peace and feel His presence. Exhale your worries.

Praise and Thanksgiving

1.   Think through your day, all the times that made you smile
2.   Thank God for all those moments, and for all those people
3.   Open your heart to praise the Lord

15 I will lift up the cup of salvation
and call on the name of the Lord,
14 I will pay my vows to the Lord
in the presence of all his people.

         Psalm 116:13-14

Confession and Repentance (Subjective Shifting Devotion Method http://bishopsilas.blogspot.ca/2009/08/count-down-5-subject-shifting-devotion.html)

1.  Pray for the Holy Spirit to work in you:

“Dear Holy Spirit, shine your light into the places of darkness in my life. Show me my sins, everything that blocks me from encountering God. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.”

2.  Through the Holy Spirit, examine yourself for a short silence and then pray:

"Dear Lord Jesus, thank you for dying on the cross for our sins and being victorious over death and sin. I confess my sin to you(pause, to tell Jesus what the Holy Spirit has shown you). Forgive my sins by your blood and help me follow you. Holy Spirit, fill me that I may be able to receive your gift to love God and His people. In Jesus Name I pray, Amen."

The Word (Joshua 11:1-15)

English(ESV): https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Joshua 11&version=ESV

12 And all the cities of those kings, and all their kings, Joshua captured, and struck them with the edge of the sword, devoting them to destruction, just as Moses the servant of the Lord had commanded. 13 But none of the cities that stood on mounds did Israel burn, except Hazor alone; that Joshua burned.14 And all the spoil of these cities and the livestock, the people of Israel took for their plunder. But every person they struck with the edge of the sword until they had destroyed them, and they did not leave any who breathed. 15 Just as the Lord had commanded Moses his servant, so Moses commanded Joshua, and so Joshua did. He left nothing undone of all that the Lord had commanded Moses.
                 Joshua 11:12-15

Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage of scripture we have just read. Offer this time up to Jesus as you listen to him, while listening to "Gabriel's Oboe"

My Listening
Do you want a sure win strategy? Who don't. There are two things that we need to know in today's passage to get that sure win strategy.

Let's see how Professor John Goldingay tells us:
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Goldingay) :

One is that God didn't tell Joshua to kill all the people in Hazor, though Joshua did so. What God told Joshua to do was hamstring the horses and burn up the chariots - that is, destroy the military hardware,  the equivalent of the tanks and fighter planes. Then the country can have "rest from war." …If God is involved, all you may need to do is blow your trumpets. If God is not involved, all the horses and chariots in the world may not win your victory...
The other noteworthy aspect of the story is that it keeps emphasizing that Israel was able to gain control of the country because Joshua kept doing exactly what God said.

John Goldingay. Joshua, Judges and Ruth for Everyone. Louisville,KY: Westminster John Knox Press, 2011, p.60.

What I received from Jesus today is verse 15:

Just as the Lord had commanded Moses his servant, so Moses commanded Joshua, and so Joshua did. He left nothing undone of all that the Lord had commanded Moses.

We have been wasting too much time in thinking of the "how to", how to have a good strategy to win, how to do it in certain ways, how to learn more … Actually the best way and our sure win strategy is just to leave nothing undone of all that the Lord has commanded you. Yes, Joshua did more than God commanded him. We do not know why he killed all the people God did not tell him to. But, God had mercy on him to allow him to do that because that was what God commanded Joshua to kill everyone in the city of Jericho and AI. Well, it is not easy for a leader to receive a new paradigm strategy, right? We like to stay in our old paradigm strategy!

To be more clear, to leave nothing undone of all that the Lord has commanded you means through your "Moses" or God Himself.

Do you know who your 'Moses", your coach, mentor or coaches and mentors are? Their job is just as Moses did to Joshua until Joshua could have the ability and anointing to have a close relationship with God and then leave nothing undone of all that God have commanded him.

Have you got the "Sure Win Strategy" now? Are you going to follow?

Dear Lord Jesus,
Help us to follow Moses and Joshua's model so that we won't leave nothing undone you have commanded us. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.

Reflect on these questions:
1. Have you something undone God has commanded you?

2. Do you think today's message is really a sure win strategy? How are you going to respond to Jesus' invitation to you now?

3. What have you got from Jesus today?
