Bible Study

Today a friend who is a top professional from Hong Kong asked me for wisdom to teach his children. We can find that wisdom in todays passage.

Let's take a look at what Professor John Goldingay says (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Goldingay) :

Pharaoh recognizes that wisdom is important in managing his empire and anticipating its problems, but he does not manifest such wisdom. Egypt had a reputation for its system of higher education and the resources it had gathered for training people in administration, yet the system totally fails it. At the moment of crisis, the people with insight are the women who have no trouble pulling the wool over Pharaoh's eyes and the women who devise a simple plan for pulling the wool over his daughter's eyes. The midwives revered God; implicitly, the mother and the sister trust God. Revering and trust are part of wisdom.

How do you find the way to have wisdom to deal with your everyday's life?

The title I heard from Jesus today is: Want to have wisdom?

What Jesus tells me today is the way to receive wisdom to deal with those things we are not able to deal with. According to this passage, it is very simple: Revering and trust.

And yet, "revering and trust" is not easy because that is a relational matter. Fearing(Revering) God is the most important thing the Old Testament teaches and top No. 1 rule that each Israelite should follow. We can see how those prophets who got the relational aspect and showing their revering and trust through their mighty prophetic acts. We also see those leaders who did not have that relational aspect with God but showing a shallow or false revering and fear of God making a big mess to God's plan.

So, who are those people you need to learn from so that you can receive wisdom from God? They are those midwives and Moses' mother and sister, not Pharoah's seemingly wise strategy.

Have you got that right now?

Dear Lord Jesus,
Lead us to live out our true revere and trust to you so that we can receive wisdom from you to deal with those things we are not able to deal with. In Jesus Name we pray. Amen.
