OT DAY 90 - Don't Let Hate to Tear Off Relationships (請按此處收聼廣東話Cantonese podcast click here)

Starting last week we add one important thing to our daily devotion. We start our devotion with one to two verses from the Psalms to praise God. We always have so limited vocabulary when we want to praise God. Let's learn from the Psalms so that we can be able to praise God in a better way:

You prepare a table before me
    in the presence of my enemies;
you anoint my head with oil;
    my cup overflows.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
    all the days of my life,
and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord
    forever.
                    Psalm 23: 4-6
Today's Reading: Genesis 33:1- 17

      Today's passage is about reconciliation and brotherly love. It's about how fear and hate are being removed when two parties are willing to reconciled. If you were Jacob, would you do the same thing as he did as describe in this passage?

Let's take a look at what Professor John Goldingay says (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Goldingay) :

     Jacob assumes Esau still cares about the blessing, in its material form, and he knows he has to give it back.  Actually, if Esau still intended to kill Jacob, I doubt whether bribes would sort the matter out.  Esau would presumably say, "Thank you very much," kill Jacob anyway, and appropriate all the rest of his assets
     The wonderful irony of the reunion is that Esau's four hundred men are not a posse but a welcome party of escorts.  Jacob is all prostration and Esau just wants a hug.  They both weep, but the tears mean something different for Jacob from what they mean for Esau.

      Do you know how difficult it is to build up a relationship? Do you know how easy it is to tear off a relationship?

Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage we have just read. Offer this time up to Jesus as you listen to him, while listening to "Gabriel's Oboe":  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jmax47l2hLU

    The title I heard from Jesus today is: Don't let hate to tear off relationships

    What Jesus tells me today is a warning for us to watch out Satan's cunning scheme of separation and destruction. I was invited by Dr. Philemon Choi, President of Breakthrough Youth Global Network to have a public talk in Hong Kong North Point Alliance Church yesterday night. After my talk there was a Q & A session. There was a young lady asking me if it is her lack of relationship with Jesus to make her family in a kind of tearing off situation due to the devastating political situation in Hong Kong. She was in lots of tears and I asked all participants to pray for her right away.

     If you are not in Hong Kong, you would not be able to understand how serious it is that the whole society has been torn apart. Lots of parents and children are becoming enemies, members of the same church have become enemies and the situation becoming more and more serious.

     What we do not know is that no one wins in this crisis, only Satan!

     I have seen too much of this kind of tearing off. It happened to Jacob and Esau, it happened to many families for centuries, it is happening in your church now, it is happening in Hong Kong now. What can you do?

     Yes, you can do a lot. Don't let Satan pull you into his party to tear off relationships in your family, your church and your society. Let Jesus Christ our Lord to be your Lord. Allowing Jesus to pour down His blood on you to remove all the hate and misunderstanding away. Let love to replace hate!

Dear Lord Jesus,
Protect us that we will never be pulled by the Separator to his party to tear off relationships. Help us to rebuild those broken relationships and build up our families, churches, societies and nations. In Jesus Name we pray. Amen.
