OT DAY 112 - When You Think God Does Not Care (請按此處收聼廣東話Cantonese podcast click here)

Let us praise the Lord:

I will bless the Lord at all times;
    his praise shall continually be in my mouth.
My soul makes its boast in the Lord;
    let the humble hear and be glad.
Oh, magnify the Lord with me,
    and let us exalt his name together!
                                                            Psalm 34:1-3
Today's Reading: Exodus 2:11-25

      We come to a painful oppressing time for the Israelites. Their groaning, lamenting and crying for help give us a chance to see how God responds to their cry.

Let's take a look at what Professor John Goldingay says (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Goldingay) :

     Exodus uses four important verbs about God's response.  They come in pairs.  First, God listened…second, God "was mindful of his covenant."  Translations often have God "remembering," which is fair enough, though the idea is not so much that the covenant has escaped God's memory as that God has not been acting in light of that convenant to give Canaan to Abraham's people.  Now God decides it's time to do so.  God thinks about what needs doing.
     In the second pair, seeing matches listening... The cry came up to God; God looked down to see. God recognizing what is going on matches God's being mindful.

John Goldingay. Exodus & Leviticus for Everyone. Louisville,KY: Westminster John Knox Press, 2010, p.13-14.

      So, when you are in a painful moment thinking that God does not care, be sure that God listens, remembers, sees and recognizes. He will surely acts in His good time and in His good will.

Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage we have just read. Offer this time up to Jesus as you listen to him, while listening to "Gabriel's Oboe":  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jmax47l2hLU

    The title I heard from Jesus today is: When you think God does not care

    What Jesus tells me today is to remind us of how He loves us. Yes, Jesus loves you. He always listens, remembers, sees and recognizes. Then, He will act, most of the time unexpectedly. That's what amazing love and amazing grace really means!

Dear Lord Jesus,
Lead us to be sure that you love us and you listen to our cry. Take us out of our darkness into your light. In Jesus Name we pray. Amen.
