OT DAY 96 - God with You (請按此處收聼廣東話Cantonese podcast click here)

Let us praise the Lord:
Blessed be the Lord!
    For he has heard the voice of my pleas for mercy.
The Lord is my strength and my shield;
    in him my heart trusts, and I am helped;
my heart exults,
    and with my song I give thanks to him.

                                                            Psalm 28: 6-7
Today's Reading: Genesis 39:1- 23

Bible Study

      Yesterday we talked about messiness and all about sex. Today's passage talks about sexual temptation but in a totally different result. Joseph's brother Judah made a big mess, but Joseph made a great success and testimony. Why?Why someone can survive one of the most dangerous temptation on earth?

Let's take a look at what Professor John Goldingay says (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Goldingay) :

     Joseph deals with sexual temptation or sexual instincts in a very different way from Judah.
     God was with Joseph. God had promised to be with his father and his grandfather (see Genesis 26 and 28) and had kept that promise.  It is fulfilled for Joseph, too. As was the case for them, this means God made things work out well for him; it did not merely mean he had a feeling that God was with him... It means he sees some fulfillment of God's promise to his great grandfather that he would be a means whereby blessing came to other peoples.  Through Joseph, blessing comes to the Egyptians among whom he lives and works.
     It certainly looks as if the idea that God was with Joseph collapses when he ends up in jail, yet Genesis then takes up that idea again…Joseph ends up in the same position of responsibility in the jail as the one he held with Potiphar.

      Have you experienced the power and fruit of God with you? Do you know it can happen no matter you are in good shape or bad condition? Do you believe that?

Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage we have just read. Offer this time up to Jesus as you listen to him, while listening to "Gabriel's Oboe":  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jmax47l2hLU

    The title I heard from Jesus today is: God with you

    What Jesus tells me today is a promise and a reminder that we need to be with Him daily. The phrase "God was with Joseph" appears four times (vv. 2, 3, 21 and 23.) After each of those phrases it follows with words like "he prospered", "gave him success", "granted him favor" and "gave him success".

     If you tell me God is with you each day, show me the power and fruit of His being with you in either good or bad situation. Show me? If not, don't think that God is with you like He really wants to be with you.

     You might have spend too much time being with lots of people and things but not with God. If you wants God with you and tastes the power and fruit of His being with you, please spend more time to be with Him. Not guilty, duty or study, just being with Him through reading the Bible each day. There is no short cut to build and sustain a relationship.

      You need to spend more time being with Jesus!

Dear Lord Jesus,
Help us to experience the power and fruit of your being with us because we want to try our best to be with you each day. In Jesus Name we pray. Amen.
