OT DAY 86 - God Is Telling You to Go Home (請按此處收聼廣東話Cantonese podcast click here)

Starting last week we add one important thing to our daily devotion. We start our devotion with one to two verses from the Psalms to praise God. We always have so limited vocabulary when we want to praise God. Let's learn from the Psalms so that we can be able to praise God in a better way:

Lord, in your strength the king rejoices,
and in your salvation how greatly he exults!
You have given him his heart's desire
and have not withheld the request of his lips.

                    Psalm 21: 1-2
Today's Reading: Genesis 31:1-29

Today's passage is perhaps one of a few passages that everybody wants to hear. How good it could be if we have God telling us where to go, what to do and then tells our enemies are not able to harm us and we are being protected to go where God wants us to go. Have you experienced that before?

Let's take a look at what Professor John Goldingay says (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Goldingay) :

It is God who tells Jacob it is time to go home, though the idea has been in his head for a while.  When Jacob goes on to speak of the way God has been involved with him and to relate his dream, one might wonder how far Jacob is protecting onto God his own decision making or wishful thinking.  Yet Genesis confirms the basic point: God tells Jacob to go home
God therefore provides Jacob with another level of protection by appearing to Laban and warning him not to argue with Jacob about rights and wrongs in what has happened.

John Goldingay. Genesis for Everyone - Part Two. Louisville,KY: Westminster John Knox Press, 2010, p.107.

Are you praying and waiting for God's voice telling you what to do and where to go recently? Are you afraid of some people's harmful action and praying for God's protection?

Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage we have just read. Offer this time up to Jesus as you listen to him, while listening to "Gabriel's Oboe":  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jmax47l2hLU

The title I heard from Jesus today is: God is telling you to go home

What Jesus tells me today is a strange and mystical topic. I do not know why Jesus wants me to put this topic. I guess there are some people reading or listening to my blog and podcast today wants this message:
God is telling you to go home

Not only God is telling you to go home, he is telling you that you will be protected in a very special way when you have the courage just like Jacob to leave where you are and go home. Yes, God has a special way to give you protection and provision.

May be you are wondering just like Jacob whether you need to leave where you are to go home.

May be you are dying and God is telling you that you do not need to be afraid to go home to be with Him.

No matter where you are and what situation you are in, go where God wants you to go and be sure that you will be protected and everything will be provided.

God is telling you to go home. Go home now!

Dear Lord Jesus,
Lead us each day that we are able to listen to your call and have the courage to go where you want us to go.  In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
