This passage describes how well the shepherd knows his sheep and his sheep know the shepherd. That kind of relationship is just as the intimate relationship with the Father and Jesus. N.T. Wright says, "Everything is based on, and returns into, that close and intimate relationship which Jesus had with 'the father', and which so much of this gospel has already explored.
This kind of knowing is actually a deep loving because the shepherd is willing to die for the sheep! Do you know how much Jesus loves you and willing to die for you?
Have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage of scripture we have just read. Offer this time up to Jesus as you listen to him, while listening to "Gabriel's Oboe"

What I heard from Jesus today is: How well do you know Jesus?
Yes, today Jesus challenge us with a very personal question: How well do you know me?
This passage put down some important signs of a loving relationship of the shepherd and the sheep:
1. The good shepherd is willing to die for the sheep.
2. They know each others very well.
3. The sheep are able to listen to the shepherd very well.
4. Jesus has total authority to give and to take.
According to these signs, how well do you know Jesus?
Dear Lord Jesus,
Help us to know you more and to love you more deeply day by day. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
