To follow Jesus is extremely costly!
Just as N.T. Wright says:
Several of Jesus hearers, then, continue to grumble - continuing the theme of the Israelites grumbling in the wilderness, even while the Exodus was proceeding, and God was feeding them with the manna. This new teaching was 'difficult' in the sense that it was demanding not just to get your mind round it but to get your heart and soul into it. ..There was there for a division among his followers. It looks as though the majority refuse to go with him any longer, with only the Twelve continuing.
Jesus was asking them one thing, "You do not want to leave too, do you?"
To follow Jesus is never easy because to be Christ-like is so costly! Are you in or out?
Have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage of scripture we have just read. Offer this time up to God as you listen to him, while listening to "Gabriel's Oboe"

What I heard from Jesus today is: Are you in or out?
Every time when I read John 6:67 I feel so sad and I fell the pain deep down in Jesus heart!
"You do not want to leave too, do you?" Oh, it is so, so sad!
As Jesus disciple and as a leader we cannot avoid this kind of sad moment to happen in our lives. You are going to have leaders and people leaving you because they cannot pay the price or they have some kinds of misunderstand about you just like those people misunderstood Jesus. What you can do is to stay on course and walk on. But, make sure that you are walking with Jesus! He is the only one who will never leave you!!!
Dear Lord Jesus,
Help me not to be disturb by those who are or will be leaving us but to stay on course with you. Always remind us that to follow you is very costly and help us to be willing to pay the price to follow you. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
