DAY 709 - If You Want Everything to Be Settled (請按此處收聼廣東話Cantonese podcast click here)

Four years ago today, April 9, 2010, Michelle went to see her family doctor and was told that she got leukaemia. She was admitted to Vancouver General Hospital the next morning (http://bishopsilas.blogspot.ca/2010/04/day-234-my-wife-michelle-has-leukemia.html ). Michelle is not feeling well lately!  Her family doctor is now having a series of check-up for her to see what is happening. On this day, I would like to invite you to join us in a 100 days of prayer (From April 9 to July 17) for Michelle, our family and my ministry. Please click this link to join us to pray:
New 100 Days Prayer Campaign (2014.04.09-2014.07.17)

What you need to do is very simple. Choose one hour slot for the whole week to pray for Michelle, our family and my ministry. You may use the whole hour in prayer or you can still do you work in your office but use as much time as you can to pray and the other time work prayerfully that hour to pray for us. I encourage you to participate. We need you to join us! Trust in the power of prayers!

Bible Study

We learn from Yesterday's passage the only way to settle everything is to let Jesus be in the control room of our soul commanding our lives. Then, in today's passage the author wants to tell us what does that mean by letting Jesus to be in the control room and how to let him in the control room to command our lives. Without that, we are just in the state of knowing but not being and doing.

Bishop N.T. Wright says ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/N._T._Wright ) :
If you open yourself, day by day and week by week, to the message of scripture, its grand sweep and its small details, and allow the faithful preaching of Jesus and his achievement to enter your consciousness and soak down into your imagination and heart, then the admittedly uncomfortable work of God's word will be happening on a regular basis, showing you where you really are, what's going on deep inside.
You may need help from someone else in this process.  Just as the healing work of the early church didn't mean that doctors became unnecessary  so the probing, searching, penetrating analysis of God's word doesn't mean that there isn't still a job for psychotherapists and similar professionals.  But nor do they make the task of the word unnecessary.  To spend time, prayerfully and thoughtfully, with scripture and with Jesus, the written and living Word of God, is to know that gentle but powerful touch, like a very sharp and fine blade, producing surprising and perhaps alarming results.

N.T. Wright. Hebrews for Everyone. Louisville,KY: Westminster John Knox Press, 2004, p.41-42.

You want everything to be settled, right? Then, you have to read the Bible daily allowing the Word of God to do the job just like what the author of Hebrews says today.

Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage we have just read. Offer this time up to Jesus as you listen to him, while listening to "Gabriel's Oboe":  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jmax47l2hLU

Spiritual Journal

The title I heard from Jesus today is: If you want everything to be settled

The message I got from Jesus today is a conditional sentence. A very important conditional sentence because everyone wants to have everything settled but it is impossible in reality. Because we do not have a correct understanding of the word "settled" or "rest". We have that explained in yesterday's passage. Then today, it is like a practicum. To have Jesus in the control room taking command of our lives means we need to start with our daily reading of the Bible. It is in this reason and calling that I have been writing my blogs since August 2009. Jesus calls me to be one of the "professionals" who can help you to have everything settled. If you are willing, using my tool should be a very good daily practice and lifestyle for you. Then, when you really allow Jesus to take command of your life, He will have more instructions for you to equip yourself to have everything settled. But, remember, settled means to have Him commanding your life totally. Would that happen to you someday? If not, then you will never be settled! Don't let that happen, please!

Dear Lord Jesus,
Lead us to be willing to open the Bible each day to be with you so that your Word and your presence changes our lives.  In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
