Bible Study

Yesterday's passage tells us that people of God might face with the most severe attack up to the point that they want to be avengers. The author reminds his readers that God will repay those who persecute and attack God's servants in His own way and time. Here in this passage the author takes us back to the theme of faith before diving into the famous chapter of faith, Hebrews 11.

Bishop N.T. Wright says ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/N._T._Wright ) :
The troubles you're going through at the moment, he says, are just what you should expect, granted the fact that the promised new age has already broken in to the present time through Jesus himself - or, if you like, that Jesus has gone on ahead of us into God's future world, and is already there on our behalf - and that we are therefore out of tune with the present world because we are in tune with the future one.  Once you realize that, you have every possible motive to hold on in faith, not to hesitate and waver (verse 39).

N.T. Wright. Hebrews for Everyone. Louisville,KY: Westminster John Knox Press, 2004, p.125-126.

Are you in some kinds of troubles you do not know how to handle or to the point of collapse? If so, pray now that the Holy Spirit pours down the gift of faith to you.

Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage we have just read. Offer this time up to Jesus as you listen to him, while listening to "Gabriel's Oboe":  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jmax47l2hLU

The title I heard from Jesus today is: Have faith

The message I got from Jesus today is a comfort and assurance to those who are in big troubles. Have faith! Don't hesitate to go back your old path and don't waver.

Have faith! Is that easy to do? No, not easy, when you are in real distress or in some kind of condition that you cannot control. The discomfort, insecure, anger and bitterness might want to burst out like the explosion of a volcano. The author of Hebrews says, "Just a little while, He will come to save you. Just a little while!"

Have you heard that from Jesus that He is coming to save you?

    Have faith!

Dear Lord Jesus,
Lead us to have faith to wait for your coming to save us out of our struggles. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
