Bible Study

Wow! I am so encouraged and uplifted today! I do hope you are.
Today's passage is perhaps one of the most vivid, powerful and encouraging video clip that you can find in the whole Bible. Let's take a looks at what Bishop N.T. Wright says ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/N._T._Wright ) :

Those who have gone before us, from Abel and Abraham right through to the unnamed heroes and heroines noted at the end of chapter 11, haven't simply disappeared.  They are there at the finishing line, cheering us on, surrounding us with encouragement and enthusiasm, willing us to do what they did and finish the course in fine style.

N.T. Wright. Hebrews for Everyone. Louisville,KY: Westminster John Knox Press, 2004, p.148.

We all know that to run a life-long race for Jesus is not easy, actually it is very difficult. But, when you can visualize that there will be all those saints with Jesus in the middle at the finishing line, cheering us on, how can we not be encouraged? Now, would you close your eyes and let the Holy Spirit reveals to you with that video clip and be encouraged.

Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage we have just read. Offer this time up to Jesus as you listen to him, while listening to "Gabriel's Oboe":  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jmax47l2hLU

Spiritual Journal

The title I heard from Jesus today is: Jesus with the Saints at the finishing line, cheering you on

The message I got from Jesus today is such an encouraging one. When I closed my eyes to have the Holy Spirit led me to see that glorious video clip, it is just beyond words can expressed. Much encouraged!

There are three things we need to know in order to run well and keep the course:
1. Get rid of all the heavy gears
I was a sprinter running 100 meters in my university team. I know that everything needs to be light. In the same way, many Christians leaders are loaded with all kinds of burdens that lead to their burning-out crisis. We need to be simple, focus and deep.

2. We need patience
Well, when I ran 100 meters, it was just less than 12 seconds. But, it needs lots of patience in that serious training process in order to be fit for the university team. We are running more than a marathon, we need more patience. It's not easy especially the author says that there are sinful men(and women) who will oppose us in a very serious way and we are so easily discouraged by those attacks, bad-mouthing and oppositions.

3.  Keep your eyes on Jesus who is at the finishing line
My coach used to teach me how to keep my eyes on the finishing line and not on other things or other runners who I think faster than me. It is not easy because we are easily distracted.

So, run a good race for Jesus! Be able to keep your eyes on Jesus who is at the finishing line with all those saints, cheering on, cheering on, cheering on for you!

Dear Lord Jesus,
Help us to be able to see that encouraging video clip that you and all the saints are at the finishing line cheering for us. Thank you for your wonderful encouragement today. In Jesus Name we pray. Amen.
