Thanks for your prayers to Leslie yesterday. He had a successful operation. This is the message from Nevia at 7:25p.m. yesterday(May 4 Tuesday):
The doctor said the operation was successful. Took lots of infected tissues out and sewed those leak spots. They still use medication to get rid of the bacteria. Will let him sleep all night until tomorrow morning. Thank God and all of your prayers!

Please pray that Leslie can be completely healed after that.

Bible Study

Quite a number of people asked me why we as Anglicans have confirmation. Here in this passage we have the origin of the Biblical background of confirmation.

As a bishop, one of the things I do quite a lot is to go round laying hands on people and praying for God's Holy Spirit to come upon them.  It is often a very moving and exciting time...
We renew the vows we made at our baptism...we welcome into our fellowship through confirmation(the laying on of the bishop's hands, with prayer) those who had been baptized earlier, probably as infants, and who now want to make real for themselves the promises which had been made on their behalf some while before...
Just as church leaders in the fifth century decided that it was important for the bishop and only the bishop to lay hands on people in what has come to be called 'confirmation', thus making it quite clear that the new believers really are being welcomed into the central life of the church and not merely into some sort of private club, the Jerusalem apostles decided to send Peter and John to Samaria to lay hands on the converts and pray for the Holy spirit.

What we can see here in this passage is the power of the laying on on hands by the two apostles, Peter and John.  Even Simon, a sorcerer wanted to buy that kind of power.

So, what have you got from this passage?

Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage of scripture we have just read. Offer this time up to Jesus as you listen to him, while listening to "Gabriel's Oboe"

Spiritual Journal

What I heard from Jesus today is: The power of laying on of hands

What I got from Jesus is beyond confirmation. What I have been experiencing for more than twenty years is the power of laying on of hands to pray for other people.  Last Sunday I lay hands for quite a number of young people in our English service at REC and many of them experienced the filling of the Holy Spirit and a very strong presence of the abiding love of God.

I was being lay hands of by John and Eleanor Mumford and then Nicky and Pippa Gumbel just three weeks ago in London. I can not explain to you how powerful the fresh anointing I received from them really is. It is just very, very powerful!

So, don't lose those opportunities to receive the laying on of hands by God's servants. That is one of my main source of power for many years. And, I am being called by our Lord Jesus Christ to exercise the authority He gives me to lay hands for as many people as I can so that they can be strengthened.

When was the last time you were lay hands on by a servant of God?

Dear Lord Jesus,
Lead us to be able to continually experience the power of the laying on of hands so that we can be strengthened by the Holy Spirit day after day. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
