Bible Study

      This passage gives us a new section in Acts - Paul's four missionary journey. It tells us how Paul(Saul) started his first missionary journey:
1. Good Discernment
    There were prophets and teachers at Antioch. While they were praying and fasting they heard a voice from the Holy Spirit to lay hands on them to send them out to do God's work.

2. A lifestyle of worship, prayer and fasting
    These three acts are the key to receive direction from the Holy Spirit.

3. Willing to be sent out receiving clear directions
    It's not easy to be willing to be sent out to do God's work. We can see the total obedience of Barnabas and Saul and how they knew where to go and where to minister.

4.  Kingdom authority
     They showed the power of Kingdom authority to stop the work of Bar-Jesus.

5.  A new person
     Saul's name was being changed here in this passage to Paul. A totally new being and a new doing happened here for Paul. 

     Have you experienced similar steps as Paul did? Do you think you would experience similar steps or just Paul and those powerful servants of God and you are not one of them? 
     
                              
Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage of scripture we have just read. Offer this time up to Jesus as you listen to him, while listening to "Gabriel's Oboe"



Spiritual Journal

     What I heard from Jesus today is: Have you started your 1st missionary journey?

    What I got from Jesus today is an invitation for you to accept his commission today to start your first missionary journey. Do you think Jesus would really do that to you? Do you think you need to start your 1st missionary journey? Have you started yet? When did you start? 

     You may need more prayer and fasting in order to be able to start your 1st missionary journey.

Dear Lord Jesus,
Lead us to be able to discern your will so that we can start our first missionary journey. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
