Bible Study
      Today we start 1 Corinthians, a very interesting book and one of Paul most varied and lengthy letter.  The church of Corinth was in trouble, all kinds of problems you can think of in a church happened in this church. If you were Paul, how can you help those Corinthians?

       Bishop N.T. Wright says the first thing for Paul to help those Corinthians was to talk and talk about Jesus. When someone is in love, he or she can't stop thinking and talking about the loved one. Right?

     Paul's central concern, here and throughout this life and work, was quite simply Jesus.  The name "Jesus" occurs eight times in these nine verses. Paul couldn't stop talking about Jesus, because without Jesus nothing else he said or did made any sense.  And what he wants the Corinthians to get hold of most of all is what it means to have Jesus at the middle of your story, your life, your thoughts, your imagination.  If they can do that, all the other issues that rush to and fro through the letter will sort themselves out.

    What I heard from Jesus today is: Your church and family will be problem free

    What I got from Jesus today is an interest topic, a topic that might never happen in a church.  How can a church to be problem free, unless it is heaven, right?

     Bishop Wright's good and big idea leads me to think of a situation. Do you think there would be any argument or problem if two people are in love as in a state of can't stop talking about the lover's name? No, they won't.

     When would there be argument and problem? When they want to control each others, lording each others and insist on what they think is right. Then, problems come! So as the same situation happens to your own church, and to your own family and to your own office and ...

      Let's enter into that deep, intimate and passionate relationship with Jesus that we can't stop thinking of Jesus, talking about Jesus and loving Jesus! Then your church and family will be problem free! 
    
Dear Lord Jesus,
Lead us to be willing to enter into that deep, intimate and passionate relationship with you that our families and churches will taste the sweetness of unity. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
