Bible Study

Paul explains the importance of being a builder or a foreman for God's project. Each piece of God's work will be tested by fire. Those works use poor material will be burnt down and those works use good material will be kept.

Bishop N.T. Wright's says ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/N._T._Wright ) :
The main point, of course, is the seriousness with which Paul takes the various tasks and responsibilities of Christians, particularly leaders and teachers in the church.  We are not playing games.  There are serious and lasting issues at stake.  It is possible to build wisely, well, and with the right materials.  It is also possible to build badly, or with the wrong materials.  It is possible actually to pull down the building altogether.  God takes these possibilities very seriously.  Do we?

So, how well are we building God's project? Do you think the coming fire will take away what you have done so far?

Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage of scripture we have just read. Offer this time up to Jesus as you listen to him, while listening to "Gabriel's Oboe":  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jmax47l2hLU

What I heard from Jesus today is: The coming fire will test the quality of your work.

What I got from Jesus today is a call to start preparing for the coming fire. How? By using good material to build God's work.

I have seen too many fire destroying lots of works. Actually quite a number of works we think doing for God turn out to be a disaster. Clergy and leaders could suddenly burn-out, quit or even give up their faith.

Do you know you are God's temple? Don't destroy God's temple, please!

Dear Lord Jesus,
Help us to prepare for the coming fire. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
