Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, Jesus!

Paul repeats the name of Jesus eight times in the very beginning of the message to a divide church. And now, Paul gives them the reason why the Corinthians are so divided. They are separated into different teams following different famous and powerful leaders. Some even say they are following the Messiah, they claim that they are following King Jesus, in fact they don't.

Bishop N.T. Wright's says ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/N._T._Wright ) :
It's a sobering thought that the church faced such division in its very earliest years.  People sometimes talk as if first-generation Christianity enjoyed a pure, untroubled honeymoon period, after which things became more difficult; but there's no evidence for this in the New Testament.  Right from the start, Paul found himself not only announcing the gospel of Jesus but struggling to hold together in a single family those who had obeyed its summon.

N.T. Wright. Paul for Everyone:1 Corinthians. Louisville,KY: Westminster John Knox Press, 2004, p.8.

Who are you actually following? Which team do you really belong to? Is your church facing division? If so, how can you help your church to turn from divisive to unity?

Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage of scripture we have just read. Offer this time up to Jesus as you listen to him, while listening to "Gabriel's Oboe":  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jmax47l2hLU

What I heard from Jesus today is: Jesus team is your only hope

What I got from Jesus today is the secret to build up a church in unity. We need to build up people to join Jesus team. Is it possible? No, it is not. That's why right in the beginning of the Early Church there is division.

So, if it is not possible, then what should we do, do we need to do anything? Yes, try your best to build up people in your church to be truly in Jesus team and not in other teams.

Paul's answer to solve the problem to the church in Corinth and the problem to any church states clearly in the first nine verses. It is:

Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, Jesus!

No other way, Jesus team is your only hope! Jesus team is your church's only hope!

Dear Lord Jesus,
Lead us to be able to help more people to be in your team, following no one but only you. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
