Bible Study

Paul give advice on how to deal with sex in marriage. There are more and more broken relationships and broken marriages today. Most of the time, the cause of a broken marriage is because of sex.

Bishop N.T. Wright says ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/N._T._Wright ) :
As often happens, when some in the church were all for casting off moral restraint altogether (chapter 6), others were all for moral severity.  In line with some of the well-known philosophies of the time, they were urging people either to celibacy or, if already married, to abstain from sexual relations within marriage.  Some teachers strongly maintained that this was the way to new depths of personal holiness and spiritual maturity...

Paul knows, in particular, that in a cosmopolitan city like Corinth the temptations of the flesh are coming at you from every angle. To be married, but to abstain from sexual relations, is to ask for trouble.  The intimacy of the shared life without the intimacy of sex stirs up longings which can all too easily be drawn to alternative outlets.  So his comment in verse 2, developed in verses 3 and 4, is clear: every married man should have regular sexual relations with his wife, and vice versa.

In the modern world, we might think of someone going on retreat, or preparing in prayer for a particular task; they may need some space for a few days or even a few weeks.  But even though abstention may have benefits, it shouldn't become permanent.  That gives the enemy a chance to attack (verse 5).

Is that your problem? Do you know how to enjoy a good marriage and not give Satan a chance to attack your marriage?

Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage of scripture we have just read. Offer this time up to Jesus as you listen to him, while listening to "Gabriel's Oboe":  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jmax47l2hLU

What I heard from Jesus today is: Don't give Satan a chance to attack your marriage

What I got from Jesus today is a secret to have a good marriage and a good family. This is an area most Christians do not want to talk about. Then, because most Christians do not want to talk about, they do not know how to deal with that when problems and misunderstanding comes. And, Satan comes in to totally destroy so many marriages.

Lots of time when a couple in marriage problem or even crisis I ask them a question, "How long ago did you have sex with your wife?" Most of them told me it was many years ago! This is terrible! That's how Satan comes in to destroy a marriage.

You need to have good sex to enjoy a good marriage. You need to have good sex so that you won't give Satan a chance to attack your marriage. You need to have true intimacy with your spouse and that include good sex life. Don't let Satan to deceive you and to destroy your marriage.

Dear Lord Jesus,
Lead us to be able to have a true intimacy with our spouse so that Satan do not have a chance to attack our marriage. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
