Yesterday we have the Greeks(Gentiles) and the Jews condemns Jesus died on the Cross as foolish. Jesus is Lord, foolish! The Cross, foolish!

Today, Paul gives us to see the correct side of the picture. In fact, Paul wanted to give the Corinthians a reality that they were boasting on the wisdom and power just as the Greeks and the Jews did, and they were foolish. That is pride. They wanted to be "somebody" but the Cross leads us to walk a path with Jesus as "nobody".

Bishop N.T. Wright's says ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/N._T._Wright ) :
The world is full of 'somebodies' and 'nobodies', and it does neither of them any good.  That's not the way God intended it to be...
Corinth, as a proud Roman city, was exactly the sort of place where people would look up to the 'somebodies', and do their best to join them.  Then, as now, there were the obvious routes to fame: political power, and royal or noble birth.  And, as we've seen, Corinth paid special attention to people who could speak well, public rhetoricians, lawyers and the like.  The wise, the powerful, the noble:  these were the 'somebodies' in Corinth.
And Paul reminds his readers that most of them were, on the same scale, 'nobodies'.  When he fist came to town and announced the gospel of King Jesus as Lord, and they believed it, most of them weren't among the 'wise' whom society looked up to.  Most of them didn't have any social power. Most of them didn't come from well-known, 'noble' families.

Are you willing to be a 'nobody" so that Jesus can be that 'somebody" as Lord of Lords and King of Kings.

Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage of scripture we have just read. Offer this time up to Jesus as you listen to him, while listening to "Gabriel's Oboe":  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jmax47l2hLU

What I heard from Jesus today is: "I" as Lord. Foolish!

What I got from Jesus today is a warning to all of those who wants to be "somebody" in your own church or in various ministries. The Cross points us to be willing to sacrifice everything we have and willing to be a "nobody". But, the fact is, I have seen too many "nobody" in the church wants to become "somebody" and make a big mess!

Jesus is Lord. To the Greeks and the Jews is just foolish. In fact, they are foolish! It is about the "I". "Me", "Me", "Me".

    "I" as Lord. Really foolish!

Dear Lord Jesus,
Lead us to be willing to become a nobody so that we can follow you as our Lord.  In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
