Confession and Repentance (Subjective Shifting Devotion Method http://bishopsilas.blogspot.ca/2009/08/count-down-5-subject-shifting-devotion.html)

1.  Pray for the Holy Spirit to shine on you that you are able to discover your sins and be willing to repent:

“Dear Holy Spirit, shine your light into the places of darkness in my life. Show me my sins, everything that blocks me from encountering God. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.”

2.  Through the Holy Spirit, examine yourself for a short silence and then pray:

"Dear Lord Jesus, thank you for dying on the cross for our sins and being victorious over death and sin. I confess my sin to you(pause, to tell Jesus what the Holy Spirit has shown you). Forgive my sins by your blood and help me follow you. Holy Spirit, fill me that I may be able to receive your gift to love God and His people. In Jesus Name I pray, Amen."

The Word, Time with Abba (Psalm 71:15-18; 1 Samuel 29:1-31:13; John 11:54-12:19, Proverbs 15:24-26)

Today's main passages:
My mouth will tell of your righteous deeds,
of your saving acts all day long—
though I know not how to relate them all.
I will come and proclaim your mighty acts, Sovereign Lord;
I will proclaim your righteous deeds, yours alone.
Since my youth, God, you have taught me,
and to this day I declare your marvelous deeds.
Even when I am old and gray,
do not forsake me, my God,
till I declare your power to the next generation,
your mighty acts to all who are to come.       Psalm 71:15-18

The Philistines were in hot pursuit of Saul and his sons, and they killed his sons Jonathan, Abinadab and Malki-Shua. The fighting grew fierce around Saul, and when the archers overtook him, they wounded him critically.
Saul said to his armor-bearer, “Draw your sword and run me through, or these uncircumcised fellows will come and run me through and abuse me.”
But his armor-bearer was terrified and would not do it; so Saul took his own sword and fell on it. When the armor-bearer saw that Saul was dead, he too fell on his sword and died with him. So Saul and his three sons and his armor-bearer and all his men died together that same day.                         1 Samuel 31:2-6

But one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, who was later to betray him, objected, “Why wasn’t this perfume sold and the money given to the poor? It was worth a year’s wages.[b] He did not say this because he cared about the poor but because he was a thief; as keeper of the money bag, he used to help himself to what was put into it.
                                                                John 12:4-6

Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage we have just read. Offer this time up to Jesus as you listen to him.

My Listening
Could you try to think and remember how anointed and powerful Saul was when God chose him, then when he wanted to kill David many times because of jealousy how many chances God gave for him to repent. But, every time after he repented he sinned again until finally he found a witch to call up Samuel then he reached God's bottom line and he died, together with his three sons, including David's best friend Jonathan, so sad! This is the consequence of forsaking God of what Saul did, as well as Judah as mentioned in today's John 12:4-6!

But we can see a different story from David's life through today's Psalm 71:15-18. Yes, David committed sins but he truly repented and our merciful God forgave his sins. These four verses represent the song of his life, even David is Jesus ancestor!

David's life witnesses the blessing of declaring God's marvellous deeds, but Saul's life let us see the consequence of forsaking God!

Dear Lord Jesus,
Help us to declare your marvellous deeds so that we are blessed all the days of our lives and from generations to generations.  In Jesus name we pray, Amen.

Reflect on these questions:
1. Any inspiration from today's message ?
2.  What is your next step to be able to declare God's marvellous deeds and can pass from generations to generations?
